Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that signed statement has been received from the Presidency according to which Swiss cases withdrawal record has not yet found. He said that the attempt to halt such cases was made in November 2007 which had not succeeded. Principal Secretary to President Salman Farooqi has said in his remarks in the Supreme Court that files of Swiss cases were in the custody of Musharrafs military secretary while Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday said that the letter to end the cases was written by the current government. Court assistant Justice (R) Allah Nawaz said that National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) is a kleptocracy a law for the thief, of the thief, by the thief; adding the laws are not hammered out on the basis of theft, corruption and nepotism. He further said a law which affords no uniform benefit to the masses at large is not permissible. During the hearing of NRO cases, Principal Secretary to President Salman Farooqi said that Musharrafs military secretary was contacted to take back the files of case but in vain. On this, the Supreme Court has asked to submit written response from military secretary of Presidential Camp Office Rawalpindi. Secretary Law Justice (R) Riyaz Kayani told on CJPs query that President Zardaris lawyer Farooq H. Naek filed the petition that all cases against Asif Ali Zardari should be terminated under NRO. On this plea, the then Minister of Law Zahid Khan wrote to Foreign Ministry to take back the cases. On this, CJP Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that for what reasons, the acting attorney general concealed these facts. Earlier, when acting attorney general Shah Khawar wanted to submit files of Swiss cases, the CJP asked to bring the original files. Shah Khawar replied that original files do not exist anywhere. On this, Justice Javed Iqbal remarked that those days are gone when it was possible for government lawyers to hide evidences because nowadays there are a number of sources to get the facts. He said that the President has no authority to issue royal orders without any written work.
