LONDON (Dunya News) – Police authorities have released on bail Iftikhar Hussain, who was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Imran Farooq.
Iftikhar Hussain was questioned by the UK police for 35 hours at two different police stations, before his bail on a personal warranty.
On the other hand, security for Imran Farooq’s family member has been tightened. London police officials also met Shumaila Imran Farooq and briefed her on the developments in the case.
According to police sources, Shumaila Imran confirmed that the victim had political differences with some people. He was worried in this regard.
Dr Farooq was attacked outside his home in Green Lane, Edgware, on 16 September 2010, police said.
He died from multiple stab wounds and blunt trauma to the head.
A kitchen knife and a house brick used in the attack were recovered at the scene.
Detectives from the Met Police Counter Terrorism Command are investigating the murder.
