Supreme Court sought an affidavit on the governments reservations about democratic stability on Monday, reported Dunya News. The court also termed NAB details about President Zardaris foreign assets and Swiss Case expenditures as incomplete and asked for a complete report. Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary remarked that the court would give a stay order if November 3, 2007 situation re-emerges. Government lawyer Kamal Azfar said that NRO should be abolished. On this Justice Khalil Ramday remarked, Do you want NRO be abolished and still enjoy its fruit. CJ Chaudhary remarked that democratic system would be given protection at every cost. NAB presented the report of expenditures made on Swiss Case in the hearing. NAB Chairman informed the court that Rs 190 million were given to Swiss lawyers while Rs4.1 million spent on the foreign visits of 17 government officials. According to the report, Swiss Court termed the case as political while last year Attorney General had informed Geneva Prosecutor about the withdrawal of case against President Zardari and other accused. CJ questioned about the ownership of $60 million lying in the Swiss account. SC observed that the government spent Rs. 2 billion in the name of investigation on Swiss case and then simply apologized.
