A joint meeting of Ittehad bain ul Muslimeen and Ulema board in Lahore passed resolution declaring suicide attacks as Haram and not related to Islam, reported Dunya News on Sunday.The meeting chaired by Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif was attended by renowned Ulema, religious scholars, provincial ministers and higher officials. Chairman Muttahida Ulema Board Sahibzada Fazal Karim tabled a resolution in the meeting to declare suicide attacks as unlawful and Haram that was unanimously passed by all the Ulema. CM Punjab on the occasion said Ulema have always played positive role in promoting peace, religious harmony and brotherhood in the country. He said present circumstances of the country demands Ulema to once again play a decisive and historic role. Earlier, the meeting of Ulema called to maintain law and order situation during holy month of Muharram in Punjab at Chief Ministers House Lahore witnessed chaos from the beginning as a group of Ulema boycotted the meeting after Ulema scuffled and exchanged harsh words. The media was also stopped from covering the meeting after the incident.The tension began when Maulana Ahmad Ludhianvi expressed reservations on some issues upon which Ulema from other sect argued and both parties exchanged harsh words. The Ulema left the meeting while media was barred from further coverage of the incident. However, on this occasion, Member National Assembly Zaeem Qadri and Secretary Auqaf convinced angry Ulema to participate in the proceedings of the meeting.
