Swat River likely to hit valley, red alert issued

Dunya News

As soon as monsoon sets in, millions of people come in the grip of floodwater in Pakistan.

MINGORA (Dunya News): Water levels of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Swat River rose beyond normal levels in Mingora and police have started to shift their luggage to safer areas as a precautionary measure.

The rise in the water levels made more homes near the riverbanks susceptible to being inundated and the locals began to move to safer areas.

In the same way, Kalam, Behrin and Faza Ghat also can come in range of floodwater; that is why the residents of related areas have been warned to leave for safer points for survival.

According to a report issued by the Flood Cell Peshawar, Kabul River was in medium flood at Nowshera with the water flow there being measured at 1,56,000 cusecs.

Similarly, Indus River was in low flood at Tarbela with a water flow of 329,000 cusecs.
