Article 6 to be explained in Musharraf treason case: SC

Summary Supreme Court conducted hearing of ex-president Pervez Musharraf treason case on Thursday.

 

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News):-Supreme Court while resuming hearing of Musharraf treason case remarked that explanation of the Article 6 of the constitution would be made in Musharraf treason case because the man who violates article 6 of the constitution would get capital punishment or death sentence.

 

Three-member headed by Justice Jawad S Khawaja resumed hearing of the case.


During proceeding, while passing his remarks, Justice Khilji Araf said Musharraf should be tried in special court regarding treason case.

 

Justice Jawad S Khawaja said that former military general Pervez Musharraf had issued PCO as Army Chief. According to rules and regulations, Army Chief is a subordinate officer and bound to report the Secretary Defence regarding his actions. The question is how an Army Chief spontaneously can have an authority, said Justice Khilji.

 

Justice Jawad remarked that it occurred a tremendous tragedy on November but the former government took no notice of the situation. Now the Article 6 of the constitution would be explained in Musharraf treason case, adding that he who violates article 6 of the constitution would get capital punishment or death sentence.

 

Apart from this, Justice Ijaz Afzal remarked that former military general pervez musharraf can’t be penalized until and unless he is put on trial.
