Another child dies, Punjab measles death toll rises to 97

Summary Punjab Health Department has failed to control measles outbreak despite vaccination campaign.

 

LAHORE (Dunya News): One more child who had been suffering from measles died in Lahore on Wednesday, taking the death toll in the current outbreak in Punjab to 97, Dunya News reported.

 

Seven-month-old Abdul Rehman passed away in Lahore’s Children’s Hospital where he had been admitted for treatment.

 

According to hospital sources, the deceased were from Lahore and Sargodha.

 

The provincial government conducted a measles vaccination drive in Lahore earlier this month for children aged between six months and 10 years and immunised over 2.5 million. A vaccination campaign will now be launched on June 11 in 11 other high-risk districts.
