Summary Musharraf's lawyer Salman Safdar presented arguments in the case today.
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) - An anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi has reserved its judgment on former military ruler Pervez Musharraf’s bail application in the Benazir Bhutto murder case.
During case proceeding, Musharraf’s lawyer Salman Safdar argued that Interpol received four applications for his client’s arrest, however, no action was taken due to lack of evidence.
He said that it is responsibility of the police and not the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to probe a murder case.
Musharraf’s counsel further argued that 24 witnesses have recorded their statements but none has given a single statement against the former president.
He told court that decision of not carrying out Benazir Bhutto’s autopsy was taken by Asif Ali Zardari, however, his client cannot be held responsible for this act.
Prosecutor Chaudhry Azhar intervened, saying that court had issued arrest warrants against the accused, thus, defence lawyer’s arguments stand equal to contempt of court.
After hearing arguments of Salman Safdar, the court reserved its decision on Pervez Musharraf s bail application.
