NHS ministry to verify degrees
HEC refuses to hand over the task to National Health Services Ministry.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - According to the sources, the caretaker government has issued directives to hand over the degree verification task to the Ministry of Health Services.
On the other hand, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has refused to follow the decision.
In a letter to caretaker PM Mir Hazar Khan Khoso, HEC Chairman Dr Javed Leghari termed the decision an attack on the autonomy of the HEC and violation of the Supreme Court’s ruling.
The HEC chief took the stance that the tasks under HEC jurisdiction cannot be shifted to any other department until new legislation.
According to the sources, the HEC has decided not to hand over the job of degrees verification to NHS.
