Summary Aitzaz seeks action against Shahbaz under Article 62, 63 after his conversation with Malik Qayyum.
LAHORE (Online): Lahore High Court (LHC) Saturday disposed of a petition filed by Shahbaz Sharif against screening of an advertisement after it was withdrawn by the counsel of former chief minister Punjab.
The court also withdraw the interim order for preventing display of this advertisement.
A 3-member bench of LHC took up the petition for hearing. PPPP secretary general Latif Khosa and Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan appeared in the court.
Both of them opposed the interim order granted by the court for preventing the screening of the advertisement.
They argued Supreme Court has already accepted this telephonic conversation as evidence and there is no harm in making it public nor any legal bar has been imposed on it.
They argued that the issue of receiving of money by Sharif brothers from ISI has also been mentioned in SC decision in Asghar Khan case and in this perspective proceedings can be initiated against them. They should be barred from contesting elections.
Former President Supreme Court Bar Association Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan has said PML-N has fully retreated from the courts.
He said this while talking to media men here outside Lahore High Court Saturday.
“We appeared before the court in advertisement case related to conversation between Shahbaz Sharif and Justice (Retd) Abdul Qayyum and gave detailed and cogent arguments.
We inquired as to why the case was heard all of a sudden,” he said.
He went on to say election commission had no powers to stop screening of this advertisement. Nawaz League has fully retreated from the courts. Shahbaz Sharif eligibility can be challenged in Asghar Khan case.
“In NRO cases our prime minister is sacked immediately and second is summoned forthwith but nothing is done with those found involved in Asghar Khan case despite the fact that it is order of Supreme Court that the money involved be recovered. We want all decisions should be based on facts”, he underscored. Courts are giving relief to PML-N, he added.
PPP leader Latif Khosa said the petition filed in Lahore High Court should not have been admitted as legal formalities have not been met therein. Compliance has been got made from election commission in the darkness of night. There are separate laws for Sharif brothers and PPP, he alleged.
