Summary

Supreme Court (SC) has constituted a larger bench to hear the petitions against the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), Dunya News reported on Tuesday. The larger bench of the apex court will start hearing the petitions from December 7. Notices have been issued to the counsels of all petitioners including Attorney General. Before this, NRO petitions were heard two times. First time on October 12, 2007, a three-member bench of the SC heard the petitions and linked the subordinate courts decision to the apex courts final decision. On February 27, 2008 the 5-member bench ended the final decision of the SC and allowed the subordinate courts to give relief under the NRO. Petitioners have appealed to repeal the NRO calling it a controversial law.
