Summary Caretaker government has full mandate to take action, the bench said.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The caretaker government on Wednesday submitted its reply in Musharraf treason case, stating that it is only responsible to conduct free & fair elections.
The apex court had sought a reply from the government over whether the former military ruler be tried under Article 6 or not.
A two-member bench of the court, comprising Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain, resumed hearing of the case against former military ruler Gen (r) Pervez Musharaf seeking his trial under Article 6 of the Constitution for imposing a state of emergency in 2007.
During case proceeding, the bench remarked that the caretaker government seems non-serious in the case.
On this, the Attorney General of Pakistan told court that caretaker government is only responsible to conduct free & fair elections.
Justice Jawad S Khwaja remarked that caretaker government has the full mandate to take any action.
The case hearing is underway.
