Raja Pervez Ashraf stands disqualified for elections
Former PM stands disqualified to contest elections after an election tribunal turned down his plea.
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) - Election tribunal Monday turned down an appeal filed by Raja Pervez Ashraf saying he had been involved in Rental Power Case.
Raja Ashraf had filed an appeal in the tribunal against rejection of his nomination papers by the returning officer.
The tribunal said Raja Pervez Ashraf did not fulfill the constitutional conditions to be a candidate for the elections.
It has been learnt that the former prime minister has decided to move the Supreme Court against his disqualification.
On the other hand, Hanif Abbasi has been allowed to contest from NA-56.
