Abbas Town blast: Sindh govt decides to dismiss IG, DIG
A three-member bench resumed hearing of the case at SC's Karachi Registry.
KARACHI (Dunya News) - The Supreme Court on Wednesday said that Sindh government has failed to maintain law & order in the metropolis.
A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry resumed hearing of suo moto notice pertaining to recent blast in Abbas Town area of Karachi that killed at least 48 people.
While focusing on the failure of authorities to act immediately following the blast, the Chief Justice remarked that Rangers personnel are equally responsible for deteriorating situation in the city.
He said that power Rangers was extended but no development has been seen so far.
The Chief Justice directed DG Rangers to immdiately appear in the court and also ordered suspension of Malir area’s Senior Superintendent Police Rao Anwar.
On Sunday night, at least 48 people were killed in a horrific blast in Abbas Town in Karachi. Hundreds of shops and homes were badly destroyed in the blast.
