Polling for the annual polls of Sindh High Court Bar Association is underway, reported Dunya News. Polling was stopped for some time as lawyers scuffled and exchanged harsh words during voting. The polling started at 9:30am and will continue till 5:30pm. Total 1,589 lawyers will cast votes. Tough competition is expected between Hamid Khan Group and Malik Qayyum Group. Current president of bar Rashid A Rizvi, former advocate general Sindh Anwar Mansoor Khan and Mehtab Ahmad are contesting for presidents seat. Z K Jatoi and Adnan Ahmand are contestants for vice-president slot. Abdul Halim Siddiqi and Abdi Zubari are expected to have tough competition for secretary slot. SM Iqbal of PPP is also contesting for post of secretary. For finance secretary slot, Amin Akhtar Lala, Noman Khan and Shaikh Wasim are contesting. Masood Qureshi has been elected unopposed for joint secretary slot. Sixteen candidates are contesting for nine seats of high courts managing committee.
