Shutter-down strike in Hyderabad over Pir Mazhar's remarks
The trade and business outlets were seen shut on Sunday.
HYDERABAD (Dunya News) – Shutter-down strike is being observed in the second largest city of the province of Sindh on the call of Mutahhida Quami Movement (MQM) against the statement made by provincial education minister Pir Mazharul Haq.
The trade and business outlets were shut while tyres were burnt on main roads on Sunday.
Meanwhile, tense situation prevailed in the city as several angry protesters also resorted to aerial firing.
Provincial Education Minister Pir Mazharul Haq during his address to the Convocation of Jamshoro University had revealed that he didn’t allow the setting up of a University in Hyderabad city and would stand like an iron man against any such efforts.
MQM sharply reacting to this vindictive statement termed it anti-Sindh and injustice to the citizens of Hyderabad and gave a call for peaceful protests.
Responding to the call of MQM, Hyderabad Anjuman Tajiran had announced observing strike and the shops and trade centres this morning were seen closed all across the city, while the citizens torched tyres in different parts of the city protesting the prejudiced remarks and displayed condemnation banners.
