Ten people were killed and more than 100 others injured in a car blast on Artillery Road Pesahwar at a check post near the office of a sensitive institute, Dunya News Friday reported. The front portion of the building demolished in the blast. The blast occurred in a very sensitive and high security alert zone in Peshawar at 6:45am. The blast was very powerful and its sound was heard till miles. The blast completely damaged the front portion of a sensitive institute and other building situated in front of it. According to reports 29 injured have so far been shifted to Lady Reading Hospital while critically injured people including children and women are admitted to CMH. Army surrounded the area after the blast. Sources said that attacker opened the fire on the building prior to the blast and when security officials tried to stop attacker on the check post, attacker rammed the car into the check post. This is the second blast in the same are. The blast shattered the area and nearby buildings are severely hurt by the blast. Military officials are not allowing anybody to go ahead. An eye witness told Dunya News that blast damaged a big portion of intelligence agencys building. Thick clouds of smoke blanketed the area after the blast. All the ways leading to Khyber Agency has been closed after the blast and security forces have launched search operation after surrounding the area. Bomb disposal squad said that 100 to 150 kg explosive was used in the blast. NWFP Information Minister said that it was difficult to stop suicide blasts however government would not bow before militants. PM, President, PML-N Quaid and other important leaders have condemned the blast. Governor House and other official buildings are also located near the spot. Interior Minister Rehman Malik condemned the blast and asked NWFP IG to submit a report about the incident. Provincial administration has closed all the education institutes in the city.
