Polling for Gilgit-Baltistan legislative assembly has ended and counting of votes is underway. Public showed great enthusiasm in first general elections of Gilgit-Baltistan legislative Assembly as voters waited in long queues outside polling stations. A total number of 243 candidates are vying for the 23 out of 24 legislative assembly seats after weeks of campaigning. Fool proof security arrangements have been made on the occasion to avoid any unwanted incidents. Despite extremely cold weather, voters had been waiting for their turn outside polling stations since early morning. Polling halted for a little while at Diamir and Jail Road polling stations. Election in GB-19 could not be held as MQM candidate expired. Some 1022 polling stations had been established in 6 districts, 153 had been declared sensitive while 119 extremely sensitive.
