Passport scandal: UK warns to ban PIA's flights

The UK has warned to cancel all the flights of national carrier due to passport scandals.

 

LONDON/ISLAMABAD: After tens of Afghans who have got Pakistani passports, flying into the UK illegally, the British officials have threatened to cancel all the flights of national carrier.

 

Source said that Additional Director FIA, Sajjad Haider is directly involved in the scandal.

 

According to British officials, more than fifty Afghans arrived at several cities of the UK from Karachi and Islamabad during the last two months with Pakistani passports.


At this, the British officials have expressed the danger that member of Al-Qaeda and Taliban can also enter the UK in the same manner.

 

Sources said that, on February 2, six Afghan citizens were flying for London by PIA’s flight number PK-785, and they had the passports numbered NRO159751, PH1158611, AJ0152881 and BK36877931. Some of them were taken out of the flight when an Immigration Officer of the British High Commission got secret information.

 

During the investigation, it was revealed that Afghan officials paid 25,000 Pounds each for sending them to the UK. The local officials have also started probing the matter.

 

The sources was told that Sajjad Haider is a very influential person as a special meeting was held on a Sunday, February 10, to consider his promotion to the post of Director in Grade-20.

 

Sources said that Sajjad Haider was dismissed on October 3, 2011 through a notification issued by the Interior Ministry, but he was reinstated on his post through NRO on July 18, 2008, and was promoted to the seat of Deputy Director.

 

Through a notification dated December 16, 2008, he was promoted but after the decision of the Supreme Court the promotion was cancelled, whose notification was issued on March 30, 2010.
