Calling media reports regarding alleged Pak-US negotiations on Islamabads nuclear arsenal false and baseless, US Ambassador to Pakistan Anne W Patterson has said the US has no intention of seizing the countrys nukes, reported Dunya News. Patterson said Pakistan was capable of securing its own nuclear weapons. She maintained the country was a key ally in the war on terror and the US would extend all possible cooperation to Pakistan through a number of security initiatives. In a statement issued by the US Embassy, Patterson said US fully trusted Pakistans capability to safeguard its nuclear arsenals. On the other hand Pakistans Foreign Office rejected a US magazines claim that Pakistan-US every held any negotiations on security of Pakistans nukes. Pakistan doesnt need any assistance from outside directly or indirectly to safeguards its nukes, FO spokesman said. Pakistan Army is fully capable of protection its nuclear arms, spokesman added.
