ECP to review MPs tax evasion issue Wednesday

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will review tax evasion by parliamentarians, process of voters verification, delimitations of constituencies in Karachi along with hearing a petition pertaining to the ban on government recruitment on Wednesday.

 

Methods to implement articles 62 and 63 of the constitution will also be discussed during the meeting which according to sources can last up to three days.

 

Progress on voter verification in Karachi and the new delimitation of constituencies will also be discussed during the meeting. In addition, the date of allotment of electoral symbols to political parties will also be determined.

 

Moreover, the Election Commission will also review that progress made so far with regard to election reforms and preparations for holding free and fair general elections.

 

Members of the provincial Election Commission and secretary ECP will also attend the meeting.

 

Additional Secretary of ECP, Afzal Khan said the representatives of opposition parties who staged a sit-in have also been summoned on February 7 and their reservations would be discussed.
