KARACHI: Seventeen people including religious leader Abdul Majeed Deenpuri have been killed in recent spate of violence in Karachi.
Unidentified gunmen opened firing on high-roof near Shahrah-e-Faisal Nursery Bridge, killing mufti Abdul Majeed, Mufti Muhammad Salih and Hisaan Ali Shah on spot. Mufti Abdul Majeed Deenpuri was a religious scholar at Jamia Binoria.
Meanwhile, unidentified men gunned down two people in Surjani town near northern bypass.
According to police, two bodies bearing bullet wounds were found from Askari Park situated near Pak Colony and University Road.
Three gunny-bagged bodies were also found from Qaimkhani Colony of Baldia town late on Wednesday night, who were kidnapped, tortured and then killed.
Police said unidentified people threw the bodies from a car near Baho Chowk. It said that all the three were abducted from Orangi Town area last day at 6 PM.
MLO Civil Hospital Dr Aftab Chanter said that the abductees were tortured and shot in their head while cloth was also tied around their neck.
Another body was found near Timber Market located in Old City Area. He was also shot to death, police said.
Meanwhile, a man was gunned down near Habib Ground located in Landhi area. The deceased was identified as 24-year old Danish.
