SC asks for copy of Chairman NAB’s letter

Summary CJP says SC wants to know why Chairman NAB wrote letter to President Zardari.

 

 

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Wednesday sought copy of a letter written to President Asif Ali Zardari by the Chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).


A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the proceedings of the Rental Power Project case.


Chairman NAB Admiral (R) Fasih Bukhari did not appear before the court.


During the hearing, the Chief Justice remarked that SC wants to know the reasons that why the Chairman NAB wrote the letter to President Asif Ali Zardari.


Prosecutor General NAB, K.K Agha stated that it was a simple letter.


The Chief Justice questioned that how the letter was attained by the media.


Parliamentarian, Khawaja Asif, who is also petitioner in the case told SC that the letter was released by the media wing of the NAB.


The Chief Justice stated that court only follows the law.


Then, the SC ordered that copy of the letter should be presented by Thursday (today).


Subsequently, SC adjourned hearing of the case till 31st January (today).
