Skardu: Water level at aritificial lake recedes

Commissioner Baltistan, Qamar Shahzad, has said that water level at the artificial lake has receded.

 

Commissioner Baltistan, Qamar Shahzad, has said that high tides of River Baltoro have caused 70 percent of the landslide to flow as a result water level at the artificial lake, formed by a massive landslide, has receded.

 

He further said that the water flow at the affected area is decreased to 500 cusecs and there is no danger to low lying areas now.

 

Earlier, the water level in the lake, formed by massive landslide that blocked water flow of River Baltoro, had reached 140 feet, resulting in submerging of large areas and sparking fear among the residents in north Pakistan.
