Summary Ch Nisar says Opposition will not let President Zardari launch caretakers of his choice.

 

LAHORE: Expressing dissatisfaction over the verification process of Karachi’s voters Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has announced to stage a sit-in outside the Parliament and then march to the Election Commission of Pakistan.


Talking to the media on Saturday after a party meeting in Lahore, Ch Nisar said the state of affairs in Karachi and Balochistan have deteriorated to such an extent that environment of holding of free and fair elections is not conducive adding that PML-N along with other opposition parties would stage a sit in outside the Parliament and then march to the Election Commission for making the EC independent.


He said other parties like Jamaat-e-Islami, Functional-League and other political parties have been invited to participate in the sit-in. Ch. Nisar said that an impartial and powerful Election Commission is necessary for fair and free elections added that his party wanted to make EC more influential and powerful.


Regarding interim set up, he said process of consultation amongst the opposition parties has been completed and soon we would announce two names for the interim set up in Balochistan and Sindh.


Resolving to fight constitutionally, Nisar said the opposition will not let President Asif Ali Zardari set up a caretaker government of his choice in the two provinces.


To a query on government’s team to negotiate with Tahirul Qadri on Sunday, Nisar said it has no constitutional worth added that it was waste of time to discuss such unimportant issue with Qadri.


Lashing out at the government, he said it was unfortunate that both key rulers, President and the Prime Minister are corrupt.
