Summary Information Minister says media is not authorized to conduct an inquiry into sensitive issues.
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira has said the democratic government being representative of the people is always ready for its accountability but its media trial should be stopped.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Friday evening‚ he asked the anchorpersons to avoid media trial of the government and ensure positive criticism.
Answering a questions regarding appointment of Tauqir Sadiq as Chairman OGRA‚ the Minister said he was appointed by former Prime Minister Gilani on the recommendation of a committee. It was headed by then Federal Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf who represented as Petroleum Minister in that body.
He said the Committee considered 17 names for the post and recommended four out of them. He said no person can be held responsible for the wrong doings of any other persons.
Qamar Zaman Kaira told media that the government has constituted a Commission headed by a retired Judge to investigate the death cause of NAB official Kamran Faisal.
He said it will appropriate that the concerned department may investigate the death of Kamran.
The Minister said that the media should differentiate between the remarks of the Judges in the Court and the verdict.
While criticizing the media, Information Minister said that judicial remarks are being discussed in different programs managed by the media which is equal to impress upon the court decisions.
