ISLAMABAD: Addressing a press conference, federal information minster Monday said that everyone was wondering that what was the moral justification of the long march?
He said days for extra-constitutional actions had gone and no one could now deviate from the constitution.
“No one, including media and political forces has supported the long march call,” he said.
He said constitution was clear and caretaker setup would be introduced in its light.
“We are ready for dialogue with Tahirul Qadri but first he should behave like a politician and come up with political demands,” he said, adding dialogues were possible within the parameters of the constitution.
He said Tahirul Qadri’s demands are changing with every passing day.
“How can the Election Commission of Pakistan be dissolved as Dr Qadri is demanding,” he said.
Regarding the caretaker setup, he said no single person can dictate on the issue because method of formation of caretaker setup has stated in the constitution.
“Only parliament can make any change in the constitution,” he said.
He said undemocratic forces cannot be successful in the presence of vibrant media, active civil society and independent judiciary.
In the end he advised the Tahirul Qadri to become part of the political process and shun extravagant demands.
