Cash instead of food being provided to IDPs: Gen Nadeem

Chairman Special Support Group Lieutenant General Nadeem Ahmad said on Sunday that cash was being provided to the IDPs of Waziristan instead of food supplies as part of relief activities.Briefing the media in Islamabad, Gen Nadeem said 95 percent residents of Waziristan had displaced and 6 registration centers had been established in Tank and D.I. Khan. Around 7200 families had been issued visa cards. He said Pak army had sent 405 tonnes of supplies to the area for the leftovers whereas Rs 2.68 billion had been provided to the NWFP government for IDPs that were enough for 6 months. Gen Nadeem said camps for IDPs were not being set up due to security concerns.
