Shahzeb murder case: SC gives 3 days for arresting accused

Summary The SC has ordered for arrest of accused persons in Shahzeb murder case within three days.

 

Supreme Court (SC) has ordered for arrest of accused persons in Shah Zeb murder case within three days, freezing of their bank accounts and revocation of their passports.

 

A 3-member bench of SC presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry started the hearing of the case Friday.

 

During the course of hearing of the case Additional IG Sindh told the court that the culprits including Shah Rukh Jatoi and Seraj Talpur could not be arrested so far.

 

Expressing its displeasure over non appearance of IG Police Sindh Fayyaz Leghari before it, the court remarked he did not appear deliberately adding he had done so in Rangers killings case.

 

Justice Gulzar remarked “IG should appear in the court either he comes on foot or uses rocket.” However he could not appear in the court.

 

Additional IG police Sindh informed the court that IG could not reach owing to non-availability of flight.

 

Justice Gulzar observed “police is sleeping while such an important incident has taken place in the city. “

 

CJP remarked “if the child of any poor family is killed the police succumb to pressure of the influential. Institutions are here but no one feels secure. Those behind the escape of the accused persons be also apprehended.

 

The interview given by Sikandar Jatoi, father of accused Shah Rukh Jatoi to a TV channel was also shown under the orders of the court.

 

The CJP expressed annoyance over non-inclusion of Sikandar Jatoi in the investigation process and said video of interview was also not complete. Bids are being made to linger on the case but we will monitor this case and see how the decisions are not taken, he added.

 

The court while ordering for arrest of the culprits within three day remarked if they are not apprehended within the stipulated period then IG should appear in the court without uniform on Monday.

 

The court adjourned the hearing of the case till January 7.
