Summary The mobile phone services will remain suspended from 8am to 10pm on Thursday.
ISLAMABAD: Mobile service will remain suspended in various parts of the country on account of Hazrat Imam Hussain’s Chehlum.
According to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the cellular service will remain closed in 18 districts of Punjab, 6 districts of Sindh, 9 districts of Balochistan and 6 districts of Azad Kashmir and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
In Khyber-Pakhtunkwa the mobiles will become silent from 12am.
Areas where service will remain closed include Karachi, Sakkur, Hyderabad, Kotli, Multan, Lahore, D I Khan, Rawalpindi, Rawlakot, Sargodha, Jafferabad, Jhal Magsi, Bagh, Muzaffarabad, Peshawar, Bannu, Gilgit and Bhawalpur.
Earlier on Wednesday, Punjab Police had also sent a request to Provincial Interior Ministry to block the mobile service as a part of preemptive measures on Hazrat Imam Hussain’s Chehlum.
