Summary Supreme Court has sought report on allocation of Rs 270 million.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected Intelligence Bureau’s report on use of secret funds and directed the Finance Secretary to present record on allocation of Rs 270 million.

A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, was hearing a suo motu case regarding the withdrawal of Rs270 million from the IB’s accounts by the PPP government to buy the loyalty of politicians in Punjab and other provinces in 1988-1990 as well as 2008-09.

The report was presented by former DG IB Aftab Sultan.

The bench while terming the report unsatisfactory, ordered IB to re-submit a concrete report.

The bench remarked that former DG IB Tariq Lodhi had admitted disbursement of Rs 270 million. Tariq Lodhi in his report stated that amount was not issued to topple the government of Punjab.

Present DG of Intelligence Bureau Akhtar Gorchani has also presented his report in the Supreme Court.
