Energy crisis: APTMA postpones strike on government's assurance

Summary APTMA has decided to postpone the strike as the federal minister has assured to provide electricity.


Lahore: All Pakistan Textile Mills Association has postponed strike after the minister for water and power assured the provision of electricity particularly to the textile sector till Monday.

 

Representatives of APTMA and federal minister Mukhtar Ahmad held a meeting at APTMA house where the latter’s spokespersons complained about shortage of electricity to the industrial sector which ultimately finds itself unable to run the wheel of industry.

 

The factory owners added that finding it unable to meet the labourers requirements, they have decided to sack all the employees who are rendering their services in the field.

 

They also warned to launch protest rallies across the province so that the government may be compelled to provide proper electricity.

 

On the other hand, federal minister for water and power Mian Mukhtar has said that the government wants to resolve the issues faced by industrial sector on priority basis. He also appealed to the APTMA representatives to take back their ultimatum for demonstrations.


The minister also assured that special measures would be taken in order to provide electricity to the industrial sector.

 

He also invited the APTMA spokesperson to come to Islamabad for dialogue in this regard; so that proper solution to the dangerous issue may be chalked out.


At this the APTMA postponed the strike.
