Emergency wards reopen in Quetta hospitals

Summary FC personnel were deployed outside public hospitals to avoid any untoward situation.

Hospital emergency wards reopened after some of the doctors returned to their duties from strike on Tuesday.

Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Balochistan earlier called for strike after abduction of Dr Saeed Ahmed Khan, an eye specialist and head of LRBT Hospital, on October 16. PMA demanded his recovery and assurance of protection for doctors during current unrest in the province.

The provincial government failed to recover Dr Saeed prompting PMA to boycott their duties until his recovery.

In response, the provincial government had suspended three protesting doctors. However, some of the doctors returned to emergency wards today after a week long strike.
