Summary The Lahore High Court has accepted Dr Asim Hussains’ unconditional apology.
Advisor to Prime Minister on petroleum Dr Asim Hussain had said in a programme “Dunya @8 with Malick” that the LHC gave a stay order against imposition of levy at LPG under the influence of gas mafia.
The court issued a court contempt notice to Dr Asim.
During the last hearing, the court sought personal appearance of the advisor to explain his position for irresponsible statement to media.
Dr Asim presented before a two members bench of the LHC comprising on Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Aysha A MAlik. Dr Asim sought unconditional apology.
The court accepted his plea and observed the purpose of the courts is to establish rule of law in the country and it’s government obligation to implement its verdicts.
