Summary The Senate has unanimously passed a resolution to disarm Karachi for restoration of law and order.
The government’s coalition partner the MQM has cast his vote against the resolution.
Law and order situation was discussed in detail in the session of Senate where while expressing his views, Senator Haji Adeel said that extortion mafia and phase of bag-covered bodies started after transformation of People Party government.
He said that all the police officials who took part in operation headed by the then minister for interior general (r) Nasirullah Babar have been murdered.
MQM senator Baber Gouri has invited the ANP to join the coalition in war on terror.
He said that the political leaders should avoid exercising politics of scandalization; rather the solution to every problem lies in compromise.
Bazinjo was of the view that no party could survive without martial wing particularly in Karachi. He said that arms and ammunition were used in Karachi when the MQM was not ruling in the province.
PML-N Mushahidullah said that it is very strange that nobody pondered over disarming Karachi before this.
However, the MQM members including Taher Mashhadi and Mustafa Kamal stood against the resolution.
The session also passed a resolution regarding condemnation of murder of the journalist who fell victim to terrorism.
