Summary Doctors have closed emergency services in all the government hospitals across the province.
The protesting doctors held rally after which police used tear gas and fired shells to disperse the demonstrators. The protesters and police personnel also grappled with each other after which police arrested at least eight doctors.
Earlier, Balochistan Chief Minister Aslam Raisani had ordered to take stern action against the protesting doctors. He directed the chief secretary and health secretary to serve a notice of 24 hours to all the protesting doctors of the province after which an action should be taken against them. He also said that army doctors should be called in if the doctors do not agree to resume their duties.
Raisani further ordered to immediately appoint new doctors on the vacant seats through public service commission.
The doctors have been staging protest against the abduction of their colleague Dr Saeed Ahmed Khan for more than a month now. They lament that their security was more important their post.
