Cellular phone services are suspended in several cities including Karachi and Quetta following the directives of federal interior ministry.

 

The services would remain suspended until 7.00 PM today in light of security concerns on the first day of Muharram.

Motorcycle riding was also banned in Quetta and Karachi, however, Chief Justice Sindh High Court Mushir Alam took action against the Interior Minister Rehman Malik’s decision and resorted motorcycle riding in Karachi. But in Quetta, motorcycle riding still remained banned, police and Frontier Corps (FC) arrested several violators of the ban.

 

Interior Minister Rehman Malik earlier announced to suspend mobile phone services in Karachi and Quetta for security purpose adding there was a security threat on Friday, the 1st of Muharramul Haram .
