Tenure of LB governments extends till Dec. 31: Farhatullah Babar

Presidential spokesman said that tenure of the local body (LB) governments has extended automatically under the law, so it doesnt need presidential approval. Presidential spokesman Farhatullah Babar said in Islamabad on Saturday that the summary to extend the term of local body governments sent to the President was forwarded to the Ministry of Law and the ministry was directed to send new summary after the consultation with provincial law ministers. However, the Ministry of Law has not sent new summary to the President till now. The spokesman said that the authority to take decision on the local body governments would be transferred back to the provincial governments after December 31 and the provincial governments will be able to make necessary amendments in the law.
