The Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi says that the national sovereignty will not be compromised, adding that the US has been asked to change its attitude. Addressing the National Assembly session on Friday, the FM maintained that Pakistan would not allow US to do micromanagement in its territory. We will make no compromise on national security and strategic assets. Kerry-Lugar Bill protects all the national security issues including Pak Army, Qureshi observed. The FM said that the government was in favor of democratic norms. It is the beauty of democracy that it has variety of opinions. The parliament is an independent institution and the government is answerable to it, the FM said. The FM told that nothing was kept secret from the parliament nor would the government do this in future. We openly conveyed our reservations to the US and told that this wasnt the way to talk to democratic governments. Pakistan will not tolerate anything against its national interest, he added. The FM asserted that the US wanted strong relations with Pakistan through KLB and ruled out any compromise on the countrys nuclear assets. Talking to Dunya News exclusively, senior analyst Mujeebur Rehman Shami said that there are some expectations and some terms in the Kerry-Lugar Bill and if sometimes these terms are not fulfilled, Pakistan cannot take it back. He said that Pakistan should not give directions to the US and it also should not take directions from the US. All fears about atomic programme and security in the bill have been allayed by the US, he stated. We are not accepting the wishes of the US and we are not bound to take US aid, he said.
