Summary LHC has demanded record of Joint Interest Councils meeting regarding construction of Kalabagh dam.
Lahore High Court Chief Justice Umer Ata Bandial conducted hearing of the case.Petitioners while arguing said that Kalabagh dam is very important project from economic, agricultural and environmental point of view, adding that many international experts also have termed it a practicable project.The court was also told that Joint Interest Council while removing confusions among provinces had approved the construction of Kalabagh dam on September 16, 1991. And Cabinet Division also had issued a notification in this regard.The lawyers on the part of petitioners also exhibited the copy of notification issued by the Cabinet Division in the court.After hearing arguments from petitioners, the court ordered to submit the record of Joint Interest Council’s meeting and adjourned hearing till November 29.
