Summary Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira says parliament is supreme institution in the country.
“We have faced loss more than $ 80 billion and despite this we have been labeled as terrorists”, said Information minister while delivering awards among students of seminaries here in Islamabad on Tuesday.He said that media highlights thing to the hyperbolic extent, adding that the media should express utmost sense of responsibility while disseminating any issue regarding national and international politics.Furthering his statement he said that the statements of Chief of Army Staff and Chief Justice of Pakistan are not against each other. The role of Pakistan Army is commendable as compared to days have gone; we always have been differing with persons. So far as the Army as an institution is concerned, its importance can’t be denied at all, said Qamar Zaman Kaira.He said that if any politician does something wrong, all the statesmen can’t be held responsible in this regard.He said there is no possibility of delay in elections in presence of an independent and free media. The Minister said there are an independent Election Commission and judiciary as well.He said constitution has fixed the responsibilities of every institution and institutions should work within constitutional parameters.The Minister said the government has no intention to impose any restriction on the freedom of media.
