Summary CJP Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry says that the man who honours law has right to lead the country.

While addressing Sheikhupura Bar Association, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that the rule of law is guarantee to the security and survival of the country.He said that the dictators tried to devastate law order situation in the country but lawyers’ community had decided on November 3 to liberate it out of cruel clutches of dictators who had nothing to do with civil rights.He said that history records that the first constitution of the state was formed by the parliament.He said that rulers in past imposed emergency in order to suppress the lawyers’ movement but young lawyers proved with their unconditional and sincere sacrifices that they would not compromise over national interests. And with the passage of time they proved that they were sincere to their cause and commitment, said Chief Justice.He said that it is reality that nobody dared to stand in face of dictatorship in the country; it was lawyers’ movement who challenged the dictators and ultimately with the support of other sections of society succeeded in achieving their goal. They not only got the judiciary liberated but also ousted the dictator who had underestimated the rule of law, he concluded.He repeated that now the parliament and the judiciary would never support any martial law.Earlier, he had said in his addressed delivered to the Sargodha Bar Association that people have great expectations out of judiciary; so justice should be delivered to the people at their door steps without any discrimination.
