Summary The government is preparing to impose new surcharge on the products of Petroleum products.
The government has decided to impose Rs 2 to Rs 3 per litre surcharge over POL prices.The surcharge would be imposed to collect revenues for installation of modern plants at oil refineries.It is worth mentioning that up to Rs 6 duty was also imposed on Diesel for this purpose.According to the sources, a heavy amount of Rs 200 billion was collected from imposing duty on Diesel but the oil refineries gulped this money whereas, the consumers are being forced to bear the new burden for the plants.
