Sher Afgan Niazi, former law and parliamentary affairs minister, passed away on Thursday after prolonged illness.Niazi had been fighting liver cancer for the last six months and was unconscious for the past four days.He had been elected to the National Assembly as a member of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in 2002 and had later joined Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid (PML-Q). He had been twice elected as an member of the provincial assembly (MPA).On 18th February, 2008, he lost the general election to an independent candidate, Humair Hayat Khan Rokhri.Afterwards, Niazi joined former president Pervez Musharrafs newly formed political party, the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML). However, he later resigned from the party following differences with the leadership.
