Summary Chaudhry Nisar says new Accountability Bill aims at providing protection to plunderers, plunderers.

He was talking to the journalists Wednesday outside parliament house. He held PML-N would hinder this newly tabled bill.“We are however opposed to a fragile and weak bill which is not aimed at curbing theft and irregularities. We gave 58 amendments in regard to this bill which was introduced by the government three and a half years before. Zahid Hamid, Anosha Rehman, Saira Tarar and Justice Cheema worked much. Government agreed over 54 out of 58 amendments presented by us.We want such type of accountability that no one could escape it. It should be equally acceptable to both government and opposition. 36 meetings were held in connection with Accountability bill but it was put aside and a new bill was tabled. It will be unjust to call it Accountability bill”, he remarked.PML-N would not blacken its face by supporting this bill, he said. “I ask MQM to lend support to opposition if it wants Accountability bill. We expect from ANP it will not help government in passage of this bill. PML-Q has compromised its faith with Zardari, he held.Under this new bill neither any corrupt person will be sent to jail nor he will be arrested and only reference will be sent which will entail disqualification only for a short period, he indicated.Plundering and corruption has been allowed in the name of good faith through this bill, he regretted.Steps are being taken to whiten black money under amnesty scheme through stock exchanges which is tantamount to providing safe passage to plunderers, he underlined. He strongly condemned attack on Salala and prayed for her early recovery. This attack is a question mark on the performance of government, he added.
