Summary The Prime Minister says the government wants to make Pakistan self-sufficient in agriculture sector.
PM Raja Pervez Ashraf has stressed the importance of research and use of modern technology to achieve the goals in agriculture sector.He stated this at a briefing given to the Prime Minister by the Chairman Pakistan Agricultural Research council Dr Iftikhar Ahmad in Islamabad on Saturday.The Prime Minister said he wants to see Pakistan self-sufficient in other crops as well besides the wheat.He directed the PARC to arrange programmes on the electronic media to inform the farmers community about the results of research in the agriculture sector.The Prime Minister directed to provide over three hundred and eighty-three million rupees to the PARC so that the research work does not face any impediments.PARC Chairman Dr Iftikhar Ahmad‚ lauded the governments agriculture policy.He said the policy and hard work of the experts will help achieve the goals in the agriculture sector for the prosperity to the farmers and the country.
