Summary Lahore police have arrested 36 people over charges of destroying the public property.

They have been sent to jail in judicial custody for 14 days.It should be noted here that violence marred the countrywide demonstrations held yesterday, as Friday was announced as public holiday by the federal government to be observed as Yaum-e-Ishq-e-Rasool.Yesterday’s violence during the nationwide protests claimed at least 19 lives.Meantime, 21 people arrested in Karachi were produced before a special anti-terrorism court (ATC), whose physical remand has been granted till September 26.The 16 accused, taken in custody from Kharadar, have been remanded in police custody till 27 September.Also, eight accused were presented before the court in connection with rioting yesterday. They were charged with the offence of torching three cinemas and a bank premises as well as looting.Meantime, families of the nabbed people mounted protest against their arrest.
