NA passes resolution over Lahore, Karachi tragedies

Summary NA unanimously passed a resolution expressing grief and sorrow over Karachi and Lahore tragedies.

The resolution recommended the provincial governments of Punjab and Sindh to constitute a judicial commission to probe into the incidents and fix responsibility on the owners for not providing proper facilities to the workers and the concerned government authorities for not ensuring and regulating the required laws and procedures.It demanded for proper legislation to avoid such incidents in future. It also recommended for proper compensation for the families of the victims of the accidents and the injured.The National Assembly on Thursday discussed the tragedies that occurred in Lahore and Karachi due to burning of buildings which resulted in great loss of precious lives.The motion was moved by Law Minister Farooq H. Naek.Earlier‚ the House unanimously suspended the Order of the Day.Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira condemned the airing of defamatory video clip in United States and said that Foreign Office has already strongly condemned the issue. He said those who claim to be the champion of human rights must also take care of the feelings of the others.The assembly also unanimously passed another resolution condemning the airing of defamatory video clip in the United States.
