According to Dunya News, fire engulfed a five-storey building of a garment factory at Hub River Road, killing at least 77 people including 3 women and injuring dozens others.The blaze spread quickly and engulfed the entire factory. Building filled with smoke and many people jumped from the second floor due to suffocation.Scores of workers, including women, are still stranded inside it, an eyewitness said, as fire fighters and rescue teams were making efforts to rescue the people.Rescue operation has been started and the Fire Brigade have been called in from all parts of the city to extinguish the fire.The wounded have been shifted to hospitals.According to rescue sources, the death toll may rise as eight people have suffered serious burn wounds, medics said.Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad has ordered an inquiry, while commissioner Karachi constituted a two-member committee to present repot within two days.Interior Minister Rehman Malik ordered to put the names of factory owners’ on Exit Control List (ECL).Sindh government announced to observe a day of mourning (today) on Wednesday across the province.
