Summary There was a lack of efficient officers in Balochistan, Chief Justice said.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Thurday resumed hearing of Balochistan law and order case at Quetta Branch registry of the Supreme Court.During case hearing, Inspector General Frontier Corps (IG FC) Ubaidullah Khattak and Defence Secretary Lt Gen (retd) Asif Yasin Malik appeared before the court but the Federal Interior Secretary remained absent despite court orders.The chief justice remarked that court was hearing the case since four days and despite of that there was zero progress on the issue.Addressing the FC’s Insepector General, chief justice asked him to submit in writing whether the FC had succeeded or failed in its duties.The IG FC said that his organisation was working day and night to ensure peace in the province and was not wasting time.The counsel for FC, Raja Irshad, said that the situation in Balochistan was deplorable and that some foreign forces were acting in the province.The chief justice questioned if any foreign agents had ever been apprehended, adding that, action should be taken against apprehended foreign agents.The women from Hazara tribes also appeared in the court and presented the statistics of target killings that took place during 1999-2012.They reported that at least 708 members of Hazara community were killed since 1999.
